Friday's Excuse Not To Write

Reprinted with permission from 101 Excuses Not to Write.

What do you do to keep yourself motivated with your writing?

The Squeaking Noodle recently posted about writing a book in one hit.

Noodle says, "writing a book can be easier than people want us to believe."

"What do you do to keep yourself motivated with your writing?"

This might sound like a simplistic response, but I always make sure I am writing:

1) Something I really want to be writing at that moment.

2) Passionate with my creativity and voice, taking the risks that I want to take, and writing the story I want to write. It helps if I ignore books on writing, and just be me. When I cease to write with my voice, as I recently learned, chaos follows.

I think perhaps the answer needs to be simple, S William. BTW, pleased to meet you, I like your blog and have blogrolled it!

I rarely have problems with motivation. Being left alone by my family so I can actually do it -- that's a problem.

I write for a living, so I'm motivated by the need to eat. I also write fantasy poetry for fun.

You might like the Jack Russell Dog Detective books... 6 so far, and about to write #8.

This looks like the perfect cartoon for Novelists Boot Camp, which I'm reading now. Thanks for the smile and the link(s)!
